Hill walking in the Yorkshire Dales

Visitors Book

We love to hear about your stay with us!

Our Visitors Book, which is located within the cottage, contains superb feedback, along with helpful hints and recommendations of where to go during your stay at Ashknott Cottage, here are some examples:

"We have had a great week here at Ashknott Cottage. Having visited the Yorkshire Dales many times in the past, we now cannot believe we had never heard of Nidderdale! and are surprised by how much there is to do in the area. We have enjoyed the stunningly beautiful Autumn colours of Hackfall Woods, the Crackpot Trail, Fountains Abbey, Brimham Rocks and the Nidderdale Valley. We agree with the comments about the very friendly butcher and the good Indian meal at the Queens pub. However, by far the best meal was at Van Zellers in Harrogate where the food was superb. Thanks to Sarah for your friendly informative welcome and the bottle for Marks birthday! We are going home feeling very relaxed and rested, thank you."

"Thank you for the very friendly welcome to your charming cottage. The welcome pack of gifts was very much appreciated and the Molton Brown products in the bathroom, lovely! The weather has been great and we have visited Fountains Abbey, Brimham Rocks and the Black Sheep Brewery. This is a very comfortable and well stocked cottage, we wish we could stay longer."

"Thank you for a wonderful few days in this home from home cottage, the little things make all the difference. The weather has been good to us and we have had a great time exploring Nidderdale and Brimham. The butcher in the village is fantastic and extremely helpful we very much enjoyed our first grouse cooking experience. Thanks again, it is just a shame we cannot stay any longer."

"Fab cottage, very luxurious. We especialy enjoyed the roll top bath and the woodburning stove. Best walk is from Pateley Bridge to Brimham Rocks. Best meal at the Wensleydale Heifer. Thanks for such a warm welcome. We have had a lovely time here, just not long enough! Thank you."

"We have had such a wonderful week with outstanding weather. We have been on four long walks from the Inn Way Book, thanks Sarah! which were all breathtaking and had great pubs! The Sportsmans Arms at Walk was particularly good and a great spot to soak up the sun with a pint. We also visited Harrogate Turkish Baths on Tuesday for the mixed session and treated ourselves to massages. Very indulgent! We would highly recommend the baths - a really good way to spend the day if the weather is not great. Most evenings were spent enjoying the woodburning stove and cooking yummy food in the well equipped kitchen, we bought fantastic meat from the local butchers. By the end of the week we felt like Ashknott Cottage was a home from home and we do not want to leave! Thank you so much Sarah and Tim."

"Thank you Sarah for a wonderful week in a lovely cosy cottage. We did get out on the bikes a couple of days over the moors - Nidderdale was amazing. We did make it to the Yorke Arms albeit not in our cycling gear! The food was truly special. We also made it to the Grantley Arms, Masham Brewery, Bolton and Fountains Abbey - all fabulous. Thank you again for a memorable stay."
